Now that both optical tubes have been assembled and checked against the mountain 10 miles away to verify focal length, it is time to make permanent and adjustable attachments for the primary cell.

1 inch masonite washers      using secondary as index      marking 120 deg points   1/8” holes at 120 deg points

5/8” holes to make slots      cutting slot w/leatherman    finishing slots & attaching cell w/deck screws/washers

cell now attached and adjustable

With the primary cells attached, secondary spiders done, tertiary assemblies done, and upper rings rotating, we can proceed to build a cradle to hold the two tubes.

5 1/4“ space between tubes       cutting cradle parts on table saw             cradle ready to assemble

all joints are glued             then temporary nailed        1/8 holes for deck screws     then countersink holes

finally attaching deck screws                                  Cradle ready for tube balancing

The cradle is 36 ½” wide, 16 ½” high and 8” deep.  We will add corner bracing after balancing the tubes and installing the tube fasteners
